Lapland Hotels Arena opened a rooftop sauna for everyone in Tampere – Laawu is a unique addition to the sauna capital’s range

Tampere’s versatile sauna range has grown again when hotel chain Lapland Hotels decided to open the saunas on the roof of Nokia Arena for all city dwellers and travellers. Laawu Rooftop Terrace & Sauna completes the range of saunas and roof terraces in the world’s sauna capital, Tampere.
The Laawu Rooftop Terrace & Sauna, located on the 12th floor of the Lapland Hotels Arena in Tampere, is now open to everyone who wants. There are two different rooftop saunas that offer regular sauna breaks every day – the third sauna can be booked for private use. In addition to the saunas, there is a 300-seater restaurant bar on the roof terrace, where drinks and Nordic flavours are served directly from the charcoal barbecue.
– Many city dwellers may not even know that saunas and terraces are not only available to hotel guests, but that anyone can come and enjoy the magnificent surroundings and scenery – both towards Pyhäjärvi and Näsijärvi. Our speciality is the unique northern atmosphere, and the terrace is also a kind of peaceful oasis, even though we are right in the heart of the city and just a stone’s throw from the train station," describes hotel director Janne Mönkkönen.
Rooftop saunas get warmer every day
The Naava and Kaarna saunas are used by the public, while the Tuohta sauna for 16 people with a hot tub can be booked separately. Order saunas have been in demand: saunas have been reserved, for example, for company events, fireplaces or evenings with friends. Visitors are now also expected for the public tours.
– We have received good feedback from the town’s residents about the good saunas, and many have described the place as a hidden gem that not everyone knows yet. We are delighted to be a part of complementing the sauna range in Tampere, the world’s sauna capital. We want hotels, restaurants and saunas to be accessible to everyone and to be a kind of living room in the city – and that’s how we are part of Tampere," Mönkkönen smiles.
There is no need to reserve time for visitors to the saunas at Lapland Hotels Arena: the saunas are warmed up every evening of the week – Saturdays and Sundays, even in the morning. Saunas cost 15 euros, including towels and detergents. 4–12 year olds get half price and under 4 year olds get free. Hotel guests have free sauna.
The saunas in the Lapland Hotels Arena are warmed up every day:
Mon-Thu 16–22
pe-la 16–23
su 16–22
morning saunas Sat-Sun 8–11
Separate saunas for women and men.
