Pallas honey

Under the northern sun and the midnight sky, nestled in the gentle embrace of Lapland’s summer, lies the mountain home of bees, where honeycomb is produced. In Pallas' beehive village, honey born from the embrace of bilberry swamps offers a soft taste experience.

In the summer, as the buds of cloudberry flowers begin to open, hardworking honeybees arrive at their summer home. At the peak of midsummer, a single bee colony can have around 60,000 bees. After their eager toil in early summer, the bees return to their beekeeper in July.

The practice of relocating hives was experimented with back in the 1990s, when the particularly good taste of the honey, influenced by the midnight sun, was first noticed. Northern Finnish honey has often excelled in the competition for the best honey in Finland. Our cloudberry swamp honey produced in Pallas won first prize in the single-origin honey category last year, 2023, says beekeeper Markku Mykkälä from Vojakkala.

The world's cleanest air, along with the power and light of the midnight sun, provides bees with a truly unique environment to nurture their golden treasure—honey extracted from cloudberry flowers. The beautiful flora of the mountain meadows, such as the Lapland anemone and the diapensia, creates an aromatic world that enhances the uniqueness of the honey.
