Enchanting porridge Lapland Hotels style

Hurmos porridge now available in our hotels

The golden glow gently awakens the heather on the fells. The steaming clarity of an early morning is filled with grounding peace. The northern nature has always known how to enjoy a quiet awakening. Drawing from Lapland's ancient wisdom, we also prepare Lapland Hotels' long-simmered porridge. Its recipe is designed to make every breakfast moment leisurely and meaningful.

How to prepare Hurmos porridge at home

For Two People

Step 1:

  • 2 dl oat grains

  • 8 dl hot water

  • 7 g / 2 tsp salt

Mix the ingredients and place them in a baking dish. Cover the dish with foil. Simmer in the oven at 110°C for about 3 hours, until the grains have opened and the liquid has been absorbed. Allow to cool. You can also do this step the night before.

Step 2:

Add to the base:

  • 3 dl red milk

  • 15 g / 1–2 tsp butter

Mix all the ingredients together. Cover with foil. Place the dish back in the oven at 110°C and let it simmer for about another hour, until the consistency is porridge-like. Remove the porridge from the oven and let it rest on the table for about 10 minutes. Stir and enjoy.
