Hillasuo honey from our own garden
Our honey from cloudberry swamp, created in our very own apiary nestled in the Pallas beekeeping village, delivers a smooth flavor that perfectly complements slow-cooked oat porridge. The Hillasuo honeycomb graces the breakfast tables in our hotel restaurants at Pallas, Hetta, Olos, and Kilpisjärvi.
The story of the restaurant
The cozy log restaurant at Pallas was completed in 1948, ten years after the functionalist hotel by Vatikuru was finished. Just before the outbreak of the war, some of the old hotel’s furnishings were salvaged and taken to Pajala in Sweden. Today, the copper reindeer bell lamps hanging from the ceiling of our beautiful dining room once adorned the old Pallas Hotel. The soft embrace of the reindeer chairs in the dining room has hosted card games and enjoyed the views of Pallas for 70 years.
The hotel’s kelovaisimet, old log lamps, are among the most recognizable features of our restaurant. The dining room and the private room are adorned with numerous paintings, most of which are stunning works by Veli Koljonen, a local artist residing in Särkijärvi.
